UGANDA’s national parks

Murchison falls

Located in Uganda’s northwestern region, Murchison Falls National Park is home to Africa’s “Big 5” (assuming a stop on the way at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary) and the only place in Uganda to see giraffes! Murchison is Uganda’s largest national park, and is bisected by the White Nile, which squeezes through a narrow gorge (23m) to form the thundering falls that eventually empty into Lake Albert. The park boasts a variety of ecosystems, from rainforests to savannah to the riverbanks. You can expect to see a vast array of birds and monkeys, along with hippos, elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, crocodiles, warthogs and buffalos.

WHERE TO STAY

If you’re looking for luxury accommodations, we recommend either Paraa Safari Lodge or Twiga Safari Lodge. If you’re feeling more adventurous or are on a tighter budget, let JK Car Hire suggest options that will perfectly suit your needs. No matter where you choose to stay, JK will negotiate the best rates for you and make sure you have the experience of a lifetime!

Queen elizabeth

QENP is located in southwestern Uganda, along the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The park extends from Lake George in its northeast section to Lake Edward in its southwest, and includes the Kazinga Channel which connects both lakes. Queen Elizabeth is home to 95 mammal species, including elephants, buffalo, hippos, Nile crocodiles, baboons, hyenas, leopards, and a healthy population of lions. In addition, the park hosts over 500 species of birds—a bird watcher’s paradise!

WHERE TO STAY

If you’re looking for luxury accommodations, we recommend either Mweya Safari Lodge or Buffalo Safari Lodge. However, there are many options for lodging in and around the park, so if you’re looking for something a bit more affordable or rustic, JK can recommend several other accommodations for you. And as always, we will negotiate with your hotel or campsite to get you the best rate possible.

lAKE MBURO

Lake Mburo National Park is the smallest of Uganda’s savannah safari parks, and is just a short 3 hour drive from Kampala, the capital city, which makes it an excellent choice for those wishing for an overnight trip or a short excursion. There are few predators in LM, so walking safaris are also offered in addition to vehicle trekking, provided visitors are accompanied by a guide. This is the only area in Uganda to see zebras and impalas, in addition to hippos, elands, buffalo, and a variety of small primates and birds. Recently, 15 Rothschild giraffes were relocated from Murchison Falls to Lake Mburo, so it is possible to catch a sighting of these beautiful and endangered creatures also!

WHERE TO STAY

For 5-Star luxury accommodations, we recommend  Mihingo Safari Lodge for an incredible stay.  However, there are many options to suit any budget, and JK Car Hire can investigate and make recommendations based on your preferences.  No matter where you choose to stay, trust JK to negotiate the best rates for you and make sure you have the experience of a lifetime!

Bwindi impenetrable forest

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is the place to see the elusive and endangered mountain gorilla. It is a large, primeval forest located in the southwest corner of Uganda, right on the edge of the Great Rift Valley and only a few kilometers from the border of the DRC. There are an estimated 350 bird species in the park, with 14 of them not recorded anywhere else in Uganda. A good deal of this safari experience is trekking on foot through the jungle, which is certain to be the experience of a lifetime! Though small mammals (including several species of monkeys) make up the majority of animal sightings, there are also chimpanzees and forest elephants in Bwindi, though they are rarely seen.

WHERE TO STAY

BIFNP has many options for luxury accommodations; among them are the gorgeous Bwindi Lodge and Gorilla Safari Lodge. There are also a variety of campsites, if you’re looking for adventure or a lower price-point. We can investigate options for you based on your preferences, and give you our recommendations for a perfect fit. JK always negotiates the best possible rates for your stay.
